My Grandma was always in charge of the Oyster Dressing for the Holidays. This is the classic family favorite recipe which is a little different than Granny’s but it works well to add oysters…
Enjoy your feast!
1 stick butter
1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
1 teaspoon dried sage (more if desired)
or add 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic, 1/2 teaspoon basil
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cups chicken broth
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Cut or tear the bread into bit size pieces and place in a large mixing bowl; set aside.
Note: I use fresh bread so allow the bread to dry out for 2-3 hours before making the dressing, toss the cubes occasionally. You can use stale bread also and save some time.
For a moist stuffing; cover the dish for the first 30 minutes of baking.
This recipe can also be used to stuff a bird.
